Back in Toronto

JSTM Team B has arrived back in Toronto safely!

We thank you so much for all your support through prayer during this mission trip.

Overall, the members of our team have developed a strong relationship with Christ through the unity of our team, the Gabriel Lodge has undergone major renovation, children and youth have gotten to know Christ through music and VBS and we have worked hard with all our heart to serve our almighty God.

Both team A and team B had a wonderful mission trip. Serving the Lord by serving the native people in Ouje-Bougamau and Mistissini has definitely been a privilege to all of us. Please keep Pastor Enoch Hall and Ms. Hall in your prayers, as they continue to serve the Lord- pray for protection against Satan, the use of the church, their health and safety and most importantly, their faith in the Lord!

We are so thankful that God has continued to give us this chance to serve Him, and we are anticipating the next summer already. Planning for the following year has begun, and registration will occur at the beginning of 2013. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to leave a comment or email us.

Until next year,

The Last Saturday

As we ate our warm breakfast prepared by the Kitchen Team, we realized how blessed we were to have a hot meal because it was a cold morning. What's more, is that our God provided us with the opportunity to witness our team come together through “thanksgiving” worship this morning, where both the youth and adults lead worship! The words in the songs triggered many thoughts about our week at the Gabriel Lodge.

As worship finished, we had a group reflection from several members of our team, who shared about their experience on this mission trip. It was so great to hear personal testimonies from the members of our team who have experienced God’s grace during this STM. What we’ve realized, is that sometimes we expect to give a lot during these mission trips, but we end up receiving so much more because God loves us so much that he is willing to bless us even though we are not worthy of his blessings.

The Children's Ministry went into Mistissini  today to hold the last day of VBS. It was quite an overwhelming day, as 60 children arrived at our camp. They learned about the 5 coloured- cave through the skit, which represents God's creation, love, sin and sacrifice for us. At the end of the program, there was a calling for the children to decided to come to Christ. The hearts of the members of our team were touched when children walked up to accept Jesus as their savior. Moreover, we had the opportunity to pray for the children as well, which was definitely a blessing from God. They may be children, but their child-like faith is surely treasured by God. Afterwards, all the children and the Children's Ministry performed at the Tent Meeting for the parents. The week has been a handful but we have been able to plant a seed in each child's heart.

Lastly, the renovation team has finally finished their job at the Gabriel Lodge for the year. We hope to hear about your feedback soon! We are so thankful for a strong team who has worked endlessly on the Lodge over the past decade. Praise the Lord!!

As the mission trip comes to an end, please pray for the following:

1. The Renovation Team- praise the Lord! They have completed their renovation project without going over the budget, so the money leftover will be donated to the bible school. Please pray for future renovation projects, and the state of the bible school in the year to come
2. The Children’s Ministry- because it is the last day of the children’s program, pray that the children will open their hearts to accept Jesus as their savior, because Pastor Freda will do a calling for the children to come to Christ
3. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team
4. We will be driving back to Toronto tomorrow, so please pray for the drivers, who will need sufficient rest and please pray for a safe departure and arrival back at home
5. Good weather so that we may continue to work and travel safely

Until next time,

Plans to Further His Kingdom

Once again, we have woken up to see a sunny sky. After getting ready, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast cooked by the Kitchen Team. During worship this morning, the Kitchen Team shared thier thoughts and experiences with the rest of JSTM. We all know and appreciate the hard work and time that they have put into preparing and cooking the meals. They come on the STM to cook all day, rest at night, only to wake up the next morning to cook another meal for our large team of over 40 people. God has not only unified the members of the team, but he has showed them and the rest of JSTM what patience and endurance are- we are so thankful for that! Moreover, they have had the chance to observe a lot of what goes on in the kitchen- when there were supposed to be 2 people washing and drying dishes, a team of six members appears to be taking the time to help each other out during kitchen duty. And a lot of time we overlook situations where a helpful hand is given, but God allowed the Kitchen Team to observe and share this with the team, so that the characteristics developed during this STM are recognized and used in the future to serve others in our daily lives.

Furthermore, the Worship Team will be staying at the Gabriel Lodge today to help around and rest for the majority of the day. They have done great works for the Lord in the past week at the tent meeting in Mistissini, and will be enjoying a day of rest, as many of the members of the team are tired. Please pray that they will get sufficient sleep, for most of them are also serving in the Children’s Ministry.

However, the Children’s Ministry will be headed out to Mistissini this afternoon. Yesterday, there was sudden rain when we held the program, but there was none today- thank you Lord for the great weather! Again, the children were able to learn about God’s goodness through the skit, songs and video clip. They have practiced the songs for tomorrow’s performance in the tent. Since it will be Saturday tomorrow as well, we are expecting more children to come out. Please pray for patience with the children so that we may minister to all that arrive at the camp tomorrow.

Back at the Gabriel Lodge, the Renovation Team and several Worship Team Members renovated the cabins outside the Gabriel Lodge. They are almost complete- painting and last touches need to be done! We have seen the team work extremely hard for the past 2 weeks. Not only has it been a blessing to see a group of people work hard for the Lord, but the physical and mental strength that they have developed throughout the two weeks will definitely be traits that they can use to apply to their lives so that they may further God’s kingdom. We pray that the team will get enough rest today as well.

In addition, a large campfire was held at night today. It was so overwhelming to see such a beautiful star-filled sky next to a hot campfire. The team was in awe of God’s marvelous creation and we hope to bond together more in the remaining days. There will be a celebratory “thanksgiving worship” tomorrow morning as well to get different members of JSTM involved with worship through music!

Today was an extremely busy day, but we are so thankful for God’s providence. It was nice and sunny outside,

One’s prayer should come from the heart. We hope you continue to pray for us regarding the following:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working, strength to carry out the workload and good fellowship within the team
2. The Children’s Ministry- rest, energy and a patient and loving heart so that they may reach out to the children in Mistissini
3. The Worship Team- rest and safety so that they may continue to have energy to continue to work on the cabins outside the Gabriel Lodge
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team for the rest of the days left on the STM

The Heart of Worship

We are so blessed to have another sunny day in Chibougamau! After a nice breakfast prepared by the Kitchen Team, the Worship Team lead our morning worship session to sing praises to our Lord.

Next, we had a sharing from the Worship Team. They revealed to us about their overwhelming experience when they performed at the tent meeting in front of such a large audience. It has also been a blessing for them to be working within a group of members who did not know each other at first- by God’s grace, they were able to come together. Throughout the week, the worship team was able to realize that God only looks at the heart of worship, and whether the music sounds great or not comes second to that. Furthermore, they realized that God is always on control- when certain plans do not work, changes occur or weakness strikes but the outcome is delightful, we know that it is because of God’s power and strength that there are good results because His strength is perfect in our weakness.

Later in the day, the Children’s Ministry went to Mistissini. The children were very energetic during songs and crafts. They also learned about Jesus calming the sea from the skit, which they paid close attention to. However, it began to rain and thunderstorm during the program! But because of God’s timing and power, we were able to go into the tent to hold the games, activities and snacks for the rest of the afternoon. We couldn’t be more thankful for a God who straightens our path in every moment of every day. Afterwards, we also had the privilege of staying back in the evening to attend the tent meeting, which was a new and fun experience for the entire team! We are so thankful for the day went well.

Furthermore, the Renovation Team completed the tiles on the floors of the cabins outside the Gabriel Lodge, and will continue to work on refurbishing the cabins so that other missionaries may come and have a nice place to rest in the following years.

Lastly, there is a special mention to the kitchen team. Many times we overlook the time and effort that they have put into serving us. They work all day, non-stop in the kitchen to prepare us great meals. Today they even had take out for the children’s ministry since they stayed back at the tent meeting!

One’s prayer should come from the heart as well. We hope you continue to pray for us regarding the following:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working, strength to carry out the workload and good fellowship within the team. Please pray for their health as well
2. The Children’s Ministry- rest, energy and a patient and loving heart so that they may reach out to the children in Mistissini, as well as good weather for all the outdoor activities
3. The Worship Team- rest and the humbleness to continue to praise the Lord through music
4. The Kitchen Team- energy to continue to serve through cooking and work in the kitchen
6. Health and safety of our team- one member has a massive swelling on

In Him,

We Are One Body in Christ

We began the day with a great breakfast made by our hard- working Kitchen Team. Thank God that he has continued to give them the energy to wake up early in the morning to make food for our entire team to eat! In addition, God has also blessed us with wonderful sunny weather so that we may continue to work for Him this afternoon.

Furthermore, the Renovation Team will continue to renovate the cabins outside of the Gabriel Lodge. We hope to refurbish the interior by the end of this week, as they will continue to paint the rooms as well. Also, the team will be heading down to the basement of the lodge so that they may work on certain projects down there. Please pray for their safety, as there are physical dangers of working in renovating the basement.

Moreover, the Children’s Ministry held their second day of kid’s camp in Mistissini. They had tons of fun playing games and singing songs! Pastor Freda shared a small testimony with the children, and they were able to learn even more from the skit as well. We were able to establish a deeper connection with the children today and we are extremely grateful that God opened up each child’s heart to listen to His word in the afternoon program.

Later in the evening, the Worship Team had their last night at the Mistissini Revival Night Tent Meeting, where they lead worship for part of the night. As they performed and reflected on the day later in the night, they were able to experience the Holy Spirit working amongst them. The brief practice they had did not seem sufficient because of a shortage on time due to new song requests, but through that situation were they truly able to see God’s power and strength to help them carry on. Overall, the worship team was able to make joyful noises to worship our One and Only God, for he is a God that looks at the heart when people are serving Him.

Over the past few days, each team has been made aware of the importance of unity within a team, and God has allowed each team to bond and become one in Him. As the week progresses, please continue to pray for:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working in the basement today, good weather and fellowship within the team
2. The Children’s Ministry- rest, energy and an open heart to continue to serve the and to reach out to the children in Mistissini, as well as good weather so that they may hold some activities outside the main trailer
3. The Worship Team- help them embrace the changes that are occurring and allow them to get adequate rest on a daily basis
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to continue to prepare and cook food for the entire team

Thank you for continually praying for us! Prayer is our strength on this STM.

Until next time,

Yet Another Day to Be Thankful For

Our merciful and sovereign Lord has blessed us with a pleasant and sunny day in Chibougamau! We are also thankful for the Kitchen Team, who prepared a hearty breakfast for our entire Team to eat so that we may have the energy and strength to go about today’s duties.

Today, the Children’s Ministry held their first day of children’s camp in Mistissini. They had a very productive day, where the children sang the songs and were very respectful as well. The children also had lots of fun playing games with the members of our team. It was definitely very encouraging to see 33 children come out to the camp, and the opportunity to serve the native kids was certainly an exciting experience. We hope that God will bring more children tomorrow, so that they may hear about the gospel.

Furthermore, the Renovation Team continued to refurbish the Gabriel Lodge site. Although the team is small in number, they were able to start the painting in the small houses outside. The tiling in the houses was completed too! In addition, they renewed the cables in the main building. Praise God that they have stayed safe over the past few days as well!

Once again, the Worship Team had the privilege of singing at the tent meeting once again. It was yet another great experience for them to be in the presence of people who were all worshipping God with all their heart. Tomorrow, they will be going to the tent/ revival ceremony to perform for the last time.

We are so thankful for God’s blessings. As we continue to serve Him this week, please continue to pray for:

1.       Worship Team- energy and a humble heart to serve God, cohesion within the team, time management and a safe drive to and from Mistissini
2.       Children’s Ministry- a loving heart to serve the children so that they may experience God’s love and to open the children’s hearts so that they may hear and accept the message we teach them
3.       Renovation Team- safety when completing today’s work and good weather that permits work to be done
4.       Kitchen Team- safety, strength and energy to continue to cook for the team, because some members are experiencing weakness as they have stayed for two weeks
5.       The health and safety of all team members, so that we are all able to serve Christ effectively within the coming week
6.       Unity within our team, time management and humbleness to serve the Lord

Until next time,

Mistissini Monday

Waking up to a great breakfast prepared by the Kitchen Team is such a blessing. We have settled down after the 15 hour car ride, and will be touring Mistissini today. The Worship Team began worship with songs of praise, and Pastor Freda gave a brief message this morning as well.

We have received the message from Nelson that Team A has arrived back in Toronto last night. Praise the Lord for the safe and smooth trip back home!

Furthermore, the Renovation Team went to Rona to buy the materials needed for the week’s projects. They will also be fixing the tiles in the houses today as well. Although Team A has finished many of the renovation projects, Team B has several other items to refurbish in the following week,

The Children’s Ministry prepared for tomorrow’s program in Mistissini. There are several worries regarding how things will be done tomorrow because this is a new ministry that we have started. However, please pray for the members of the team- pray for a patient and kind heart when they share God’s love with the children and pray for cohesion and unity within the team, so that they may serve as one body in Christ.

Lastly, the Worship Team and several other members of JSTM headed back into Mistissini in the evening to sing at the tent meeting. Although they were on stage for 15 minutes, they had the privilege of observing other indigenous groups express themselves though worship under the tent. The Worship Team experienced a cultural difference in the way they native people worshipped God. Regardless, our Worship Team was able to see and feel the passion and love that the natives had when they were singing songs of praise. There was also a pastor from Alberta, who shared a personal testimony that truly touched the hearts of the members of our team tonight. Moreover, the people in the reserve requested Peter Liu from JSTM to pray in Chinese! What a humbling opportunity for JSTM. Even though the natives did not understand, God’s presence was unquestionably amongst us the entire night, and the power of the Lord was perceived through the many prayers.

Although we are merely beginning our week, please pray for:

1.       The health and safety of our team, as we are driving 1 hour north to Mistissini daily
2.       Energy, so that each member may carry out the duties need to be done, regardless of the ministry they are serving in
3.       Unity within the entire team, so that we may serve as one body in Christ
4.       A humble heart to serve, and the self control to submit to authority

In Him,

Our Second Sunday

We began our morning with worship, lead by our Worship Team, followed by Pastor Enoch’s sermon. Afterwards, we had summary reports from the leader of each ministry.

Overall, Team A has finished their work and will be heading back to Toronto this afternoon. Please pray for a safe drive back to Toronto and sufficient rest for the drivers!

Furthermore, praise the Lord for Team B’s safe arrival at the Gabriel Lodge! They will begin their preparation work shortly, as they will be serving in Mistissini this upcoming week.

Please continue to pray for our new team of brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for:

1.       Good fellowship within the team
2.       Health and safety of all members
3.       Energy and rest for members as well
4.       A heart that is willing to serve God

A Day in Chibougamau

After a week of serving the Lord in numerous ministries, we started our Morning reflection. There were definitely several heart warming stories that enabled us to see what God has done over the past week. We were reminded of God’s grace and perfect way through good fellowshipping between members of the team as well. Knowing that God would never waste our time was definitely something we were reminded of this week, and through the ministries we served in, we were able to experience his unfailing love as well.

All ministries have essentially fulfilled their goal, and so today was a day a rest for the team. We headed out to Chibougamau to tour the small town in the afternoon. Although there wasn’t much to see, it was nice to be in the presence of the town.

Overall, our team has had lots of time to bond and fellowship together today. However, we will never forget the extensive work that Pastor Enoch and Freda have done over the past 30 years. God has definitely been working through them and will continue to do so, regardless of where they will be. The children and people in Ouje- Bougoumou have definitely seen God’s love through them as well. Their passion to serve, regardless of the circumstances, is seen through their unconditional love and remarkable service.

As we depart tomorrow, there are several prayer requests that our team has, including:

1.       A safe drive and arrival for Team B, as they will be leaving Toronto tonight.
2.       Rest for the drivers, as they will be driving back to Toronto tomorrow

Until next time,
JSTM 2012

He Will Never Forsake Them or Leave Them

Our STM is coming to an end. Although the day was filled with enjoyable food and great worship, it was definitely a bittersweet day for the Children’s Ministry. We began our morning with warm, sticky rice rolls prepared by the Kitchen Team and songs lead by our Worship Team.

Afterwards, Felix set up the projector and played several videos he had taken from the Children’s camp yesterday. We are so thankful that he captured the voices of the children on his camera because there are some things that a picture cannot show. The children’s dancing was hilarious and the entire JSTM Team had a great laugh from watching it.

However, there were a few surprises for the Children’s ministry today. Instead of one dozen children coming out to the camp, there were 3 dozen children… so this was quite overwhelming for many of the new members on our team (since it was the last day of camp). God is quite humorous, in the sense that once we become comfortable in doing something, he throws us a curve-ball to test our strength and faith in Him. But there must have been a reason for Him to bring 3 times the number of children to the camp. The 3 dozen children that came were not only attentive, but they listened carefully and patiently to the messages prepared for today. It was surprising to see that they were all able to sit down and listen to the significance of the fruits of the spirit, sing songs of praise and pick up the moral lesson from the skit.

And as the program came to an end, the Children’s ministry walked around OJ with the kids. It was so amazing to see how attached they could become within 1 hour! They rode their bikes around and didn’t want us to leave. Some of them even asked us if we would take them back to Toronto if they had their parent’s permission (and this was after they jumped into the trunk and backseat of the car)! It was definitely hard for the team to leave because the children meant so much to them. Although this was a bittersweet time of the week, we must trust that God will take care of them.

Furthermore, the Renovation Team finished up on the cabins outside the lodge, completed the tiles, fixed the washroom boards and much more. They have completed a numerous tasks this week and have also experienced excellent fellowship within the team. It has been a blessing to see how God has laid his hands over the group of men, because the team stayed safe throughout the entire trip, and also had unbelievably fitting weather so that they would be able to work comfortably on the Gabriel Lodge and in Mistissini.

As God continues to lead us, please continue to pray for:

1. The Renovation Team- health and safety for the last day of work tomorrow
2. The Children’s Ministry- strength and guidance for the children to a life filled with the fruits of the spirit, where they will acknowledge God in all they do
3. The Worship Team- rest, energy and safety so that they may continue to serve
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team
6. Health of team members- several individuals are experiencing sickness or weakness in their body. Please pray that God may heal them so that they may continue to serve the Lord.

In Him,

His Grace is Enough

Its Thursday already and there are many blessings that we have received from God! His grace has been sufficient and overwhelming within the past six days. Our Worship Team lead another morning filled with songs of praise for our team. Yesterday, they went to Mistissini and were able to share songs of praise with their community once again.

Moreover, the Renovation Team was able to connect with the people in Mistissini at the Perch River. At the Perch River in Mistissini, our team raised the tent and made the platform for the tent meeting next week. They ate dinner with the native people and fellowshipped with one another. When the team was about to leave, one of the native men climbed into the truck and would not allow the renovation team to leave. He even asked if they could take him home in stead of Nelson! What is remarkable to see within this team is the fact that had the energy to come back from Mistissini to continue to work as well! At the Gabriel Lodge, they replaced a pump in the basement and threw out the garbage from their construction progress. God has given the Renovation team great opportunities to fellowship within their ministry and with the Aboriginal people.

Furthermore, the Children’s Ministry held the program at a smaller tent in the cultural village. Even though fewer children came today, they learned about patience and goodness, had lots of fun singing songs and had a lot of fun! Tomorrow will be the last day in OJ, so our team made the children cards and bracelets to show them God’s love. We have had great fellowship within out team and we hope for the best tomorrow!

Felix has also taken tons of great photos for this blog! Thanks to him, we have many memories of this STM.

Tonight, our team sat outside the Gabriel Lodge, in awe of God’s creation on earth. An array of astonishing northern lights, shooting stars and marvelous stars were scattered across the night sky. It is unbelievable to know that God had made and placed each of these in the sky for us to see. Coming from Toronto, it was a truly remarkable experience to see the beauty of the earth.

Although our week is coming to an end, please continue to pray for:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working, strength to carry out the workload and good fellowship within the team and Aboriginal people. Please pray for their health as well
2. The Children’s Ministry- pray that the children will come back tomorrow to learn more about the fruit of the spirit, as they will be asked to commit their life to God.
3. The Worship Team- rest and safety so that they may continue to have energy to serve
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team
6. Health of team members- several individuals are experiencing sickness or weakness in their body. Please pray that God may heal them so that they may continue to serve the Lord.

Until next time,

Work for the Lord and not for man

What God can do within 5 days is unbelievable! The day began with worship lead by our Worship Team once again, followed by a sharing from the new members of the Children’s Ministry. It was great to hear how much they have learned from this trip so far. The Worship Team will be heading into Mistissini today to lead worship at the Perch River as well.

Directly after worship, the Renovation Team immediately began working on today’s projects. Praise the Lord for sunny weather! They completed the floor tiles and windows of the last cabin, cleared out everything in cabin #4 for tomorrow’s renovation, finished the lodge’s baseboard heater and all the roof tiles, installed lighting in the garage and are already looking forward to working on the remaining 5 cabins. It is so amazing to see and hear about all the work that they have done so far- God has definitely been working in them and has kept them safe. Even the new members are catching onto the workload and skills quickly. They will be going to Mistissini tomorrow afternoon to take on a new task- to create the platform for the Perch River Tent Meeting! We are so thankful for this opportunity and for the safety that the Lord has provided. The team has also found happiness within the Lord through the fellowship, and it is great to see how attuned the team is because of what the Lord has done.

Moreover, nearly twice the number of children came out to the Children’s program today! The cultural village was filled with each child’s voice when the songs “Jump Jump Jump” and “Every Move I Make” were played. It was such a wonderful experience to see how joyful the kids were. The skit portrayed God’s joy and kindness and the children loved it. It was extremely encouraging to see the children volunteering to sing the songs during games. We could definitely see that God was helping the native children learn from the songs, skits and games today. The children had so much fun that told us they would like to bring their cousins and friends! We hope to reach out to many more children tomorrow.

Lastly, the Kitchen Team has continued to prepare and cook great food for our entire to team. Thank God, for He has provided us with a Kitchen Team that wakes up early each morning to make such delicious meals!

Prayer is of upmost importance in our relationship with God. Please continue to pray for:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working, strength to carry out the workload and good fellowship within the team. Please pray for their health as well
2. The Children’s Ministry- rest, energy and a patient and loving heart so that they may reach out to the children in Ouje- Bougoumou
3. The Worship Team- rest and safety so that they may continue to have energy to serve
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team
6. Pastor Enoch- he will find out tomorrow weather he will be staying in Ouje or not. Please pray extensively, as this decision will affect the people and children in the reserve

A Message from Po Man Kwan

"What a wonderful experience it has been, to be able to meet new people from different churches on this trip. May the Lord work in us and through us on this mission trip by using the gifts that He first provided us with. May He allow us to be humble so that we can serve one another and the native people in Quebec according to His will."

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but one of power…

Today is our fourth day in Chibougamau. We began the day with songs of praise, lead by our Worship Team. They will also be heading into Mistissini tomorrow to lead worship as well.

Furthermore, the Renovation Team has finished the tiles of one of the houses, and has also completed installing the new sink in the kitchen! If the weather permits, they will start replacing the shingles on the roof tomorrow as well. God has also blessed them with excellent fellowship- praise the Lord for such a blessing!

In addition, the Children’s Ministry held their first day of kid’s camp at the cultural village in Ouje-Bougoumou yesterday afternoon. Although we were afraid that no kids would show up do to a clash of several other events in the reserve, a few children did appear! Even though they showed up with shy faces, they left with enthusiasm (they were repeating the words to the songs already)! It was such a blessing to meet the children in the reserve. God has allowed us to trust in Him through prayers as well. We hope to reach out to more children today.

Please continue to pray for us as we have only begun our week of work in Chibougamau. Please continue to pray for:

1. The Renovation Team- safety when they are working and good weather for the week so that they may start their work on the Gabriel Lodge’s roof
2. The Children’s Ministry- rest, energy and an open heart to continue to serve the and to reach out to the children in Ouje- Bougoumou
3. The Worship Team- a safe drive to and from Mistissini tomorrow night so that they may reach out to the people in the reserve
4. The Kitchen Team- rest and strength to prepare and cook food for the entire team
5. Health and safety- there are many mosquitoes that have physically affected members of our team. Please pray for healing so that they may continue to serve the Lord this week
6. Our Relationship with God- let all members of our team know that God has given us a place here on this mission trip, and that in times of struggle, we must lean on his understanding and not our own

Thank you for praying for us. God has shown us so much through trusting in Him within the first four days!

Our Third day in Chibougamau

Praise the Lord for another sunny day at the Gabriel Lodge! Our wonderful God has continued to bless us with simple things, like good weather. The Worship Team led morning singspiration, which provided us with unbelievable comfort and the opportunity to praise God. All ministries within JSTM will be working to serve our Lord today. We are so thankful for the people who have prayed for us along this journey, because He has listened to the prayers and has kept us safe and healthy so far.

The Renovation Team has begun working on the projects for the day. This includes fixing the hot water tank, changing the toilet seats in the washroom, changing the kitchen sink, repairing the tiles on the floor and much more! We thank God for providing us with a committed and selfless team of men who have chosen to serve the Lord this week. God has not only given them the strength to carry out all the renovation projects, but has given them a noble heart to serve as well!

Furthermore, The Kitchen Team has once again, cooked wonderful meals to serve JSTM. Today, we had fresh, fried pike from the lake by the lodge! God has blessed each of the members with the ability to make great meals for the team. May He continue to spiritually and physically strengthen them, so that they will have the energy and heart to work together.

On the other hand, several members of the Children’s Ministry headed out to Ouje- Bougoumou in the afternoon. We were able to see the other camps and meetings that were being held this week. Please pray for the Children’s Ministry, because the camp that they are running is being held at a time slot where several other camps are occurring. This was due to a restricted time slot, so please pray boldly that God will provide us with children to reach out to, regardless of the circumstances.

Although the upcoming week will be filled with hard work and challenges, we hope and pray that God will strengthen us in our faith by allowing us to not lean on our own understanding, but His understanding, so that He may make our paths straight! We hope that you keep us in your prayers throughout this week as well.

For Him,

How priceless is God’s unfailing love, that we may find rest in Him on the Sabbath Day

Today is the second day, and the Worship Team and several members of the Children’s Ministry Team entered Ouje- Bougoumou for Sunday Service. Praise the Lord, as both teams travelled there and back safely. The Worship Team was also able to lead Worship in the Cultural Village!

The Renovation Team enjoyed a day of rest, for the following week will definitely be filled with strenuous, hard work.

However, the Children Ministry continued to prepare the skits, songs and crafts for the upcoming week. And they too, found rest afterwards by canoeing, paddle-boating and playing softball at the Gabriel Lodge.

At 4:30pm, the entire JSTM Team drove up to Mistissini. We spent the afternoon around the reserve, along the lake and at the Perch River, where the camp meeting will be held next week. This uplifting experience allowed us to see how beautiful God’s creations truly are. From the dazzling sun and marvelous lake, to the giant fish that the locals showed us, we were able to catch a hint of their lifestyle by the water!

As the JSTM Team headed back to the Gabriel Lodge, the Worship Team had the opportunity to stay back for Sunday Service by the Perch River! Although our visit was short, our team got back quite late (around 10pm). However, God blessed us with a wonderful Kitchen Team, who cooked up a storm of Korean Beef and rice for us to eat! We were definitely thankful for this late meal.

Please continue to pray for the upcoming week. Our prayer requests consist of:

1. Our team’s health and safety- especially for the drivers on the road and the Renovation Team, for they may be working under physically risky settings this week
2. The native people and our team’s spiritual growth and relationship with God- as we will come in contact with them this week, we ask God to open their hearts and our hearts as well, so that they may be willing to hear and accept the good news about Jesus Christ!

Until next time,

JSTM Has Finally Arrived in Chibougamau!

Praise the Lord! Team A has safely arrived at the Gabriel Lodge today. We are so thankful that the Lord continuously provided the drivers with the energy and rest needed to drive through 14 long hours!

Now that Team A has arrived, we will continue to prepare to work in Chibougamau this week. In addition, the Children’s Ministry Team will be serving in Ouje- Bougoumou for the first week- praise the Lord for this amazing opportunity! The Renovation Team will begin their work shortly, and the Worship Team will be leading a morning full of praises to our God, tomorrow in Ouje-Bougoumou for Sunday Service.

Lastly, Team A will visit Mistissini tomorrow afternoon as well.

Please continue to pray for us as we have much work to continue to do this week. Please pray for:

1.       The Worship Team- prepare their hearts as they will be leading worship tomorrow!
2.       The people in Ouje-Bougoumou- prepare and allow them to open their hearts so that they may listen and understand the word of God
3.       Health and safety of all members so that we may continue to do God’s work
4.       Continuous safety during the STM and protection from the devil’s attacks
5.   The Children Ministry- give them the energy and time to prepare and carry out the work prepared so that the children will be able to hear about the gospel

Until next time,

JSTM 2012!

JSTM will be serving in The Cree Nation of Mistissini and Chibougamau from July 20th- August 5th this year. Our departure date will be on Friday, July 20th in the evening. We will be attending Sunday Church Service in Ouje- Bougoumou on Sunday, July 22nd to hear Rev. Hall speak. After that, the various ministries within our team will continue to execute the work needed to be done in Chibougamau and Mistissini.

Furthermore, praise the Lord for the outstanding number of individuals who have been called to serve- we have 2 teams going up to Quebec this year!

Although time is closing in and there are only a few days left before making our way up to Chibougamau, we have had and will continue to have meetings to prepare for this exciting mission trip. There are several prayer requests that both Team A and B have, including the following:

1. Please pray for both 2012 Q. J. STM teams to depart and return safely on the dates that they plan to leave and come back.

2. Pray for all participants of the 2012 Q. J. STM team to ask God to lead their lives so that they may prepare their hearts to serve the Lord accordingly.

3. Please pray for Rev. Hall and Mrs. Hall as they continue to serve in the First- Nations ministries in Ouje- Bougoumou, so that the the people may hear and accept the gospel.

Feel free to spread the word and encourage other brothers, sisters, church members and friends to pray for both teams! :) If you would like more information about the 2012 Q. J. STM Team, please contact Po Man Kwan.
