Another day has gone by, it seems to be moving so quickly! We're already at the mid-week mark, unbelievable.
After breakfast at our team sharing time, Ada lead an encouraging and lively time of worship. It's always beautiful to get together in the mornings and share with each other. Members of the kitchen Team took turns speaking this morning. There were lots of laughs and heartfelt things said.
The Kitchen Team (Peter, Rosita, Peter, Betty and Roanne) spoiled us once again. Scrambled eggs and ham, beef stew, chow mein, "ju tou" soup, duck, and steamed fish - oh my! Today was yet another day of delicious food from the kitchen. I know "Seemo" and "Moksi" are enjoying all these Chinese dishes!
The Reno Team (Stephen, John, Nelson, Kwong, PM, Tong, Barion, Philip, Aurthur, Pui Wai, Alex, Kenneth, Louis, Edwin, Alan and Raymond) were once again hard at work today. They installed overhead cables as well as a jack pole in the basement. They work so hard at keeping everything and everyone safe! I have here that they did something with the "cabinet house decoration" as well- sounds good! These men are always handy to fix and be aware of what needs fixing. We had a water heater/boiler problem this morning that they were be able to temporary fix. There's always something in need of being replaced, pray that God will provide the funds necessary to do so!
The Children's Team headed out with Seemo this afternoon to go blueberry picking. Beka and Julie couldn't handle the bugs but the rest of the team were troopers and brought back a few buckets to share.
In the evening the children were lined up to attend the program and were so well behaved. It was a refreshing change from the "crazy" night before. Thank you for praying! They were very involved - they sang, memorized the memory verse and listened very well to the story and the skit. They learned that their attitude should be the same as Jesus'. When someone does something bad to them, they should always return it with good. They seemed to really "get" it tonight and great connections were made. Continue to pray that God's word will stay in their little hearts.
The Teens Team had their first "official" program and had about 35 teens come out. This is an amazing turnout for this age group in Ouje. They had a time of worship, played Ultimate Noodle and a Name Game. They took pictures of each teen so ID cards could be made as well. Even though the Team felt organized before hand, the number of kids and the size of the room (small room!) made things a bit chaotic. However, the Team is constantly finding ways to make things run well and fun, so it can only get better. Despite the "chaos", the Team felt that for a first night with the teens, it went really well! Lots of laughter and talking amongst everyone.
The Worship Team once again led worship at part of the Big Tent meeting. This time only half the team led ( Philip, PM, Alan and Edwin) since the other four members now run the Teens program at night. Last night there were three groups that led:
1) An elderly lady who explained she cannot speak very fast so she chose to sing very slow songs,
2) A group of 4 young locals who led a very different time of worship,
3) Our Worship team of 4 who lead four songs. They call us "southern style" since we're from Toronto.
A great mix of people and songs!
We sadly said goodbye to Raymond and Eva today - what a beautiful and joyful couple! They came up earlier than the rest of us last week and had to head back earlier to get back to work. They were a blessing to our team and the people of Ouje. Please pray for safety as they travel back to Toronto.
Until next time,
JSTM Team
